“No. 3 is Angelo Martorell, who founded Martorell Capital Partners in Greenwich, Conn., this past June. The Mexican-born, San Diego-raised Martorell is a former U.S. cycling champion and entrepreneur who won the Ira Sohn stock-picking contest as a Wharton graduate student before becoming a hedge-fund analyst and then starting his own firm.

His performance was driven by picks like online review site Yelp (YELP), SeaWorld Entertainment (SEAS), and Stamps.com (STMP). Despite a 90% gain since he recommended it in March, he still calls Yelp ‘very undervalued’ and ‘completely misunderstood.’ Yelp could eventually be a subscription business, given the high repeat rate of visitors, leading investors to underestimate revenue growth, he says.”
